Reconnecting to Play
Play is often the first thing we lose when life becomes serious.
But play is not optional.
It is how the nervous system learns:
It’s safe to explore. It’s safe to express.
You don’t access creativity through pressure.
You access it through permission.
Permission to be imperfect.
Permission to be messy.
Permission to enjoy the process.
Exercise: The 10-Minute Play Practice
• Set a timer for 10 minutes
• Engage in something low-stakes:
writing
sketching
movement
rearranging a space
Rule:
It does not need to be productive or “good.”
Journal Reflection:
• What did I notice while playing?
• Where did judgment show up?
