Lesson 1
Regulation Is a Skill
One of the biggest misunderstandings about emotional regulation is that people think it's something you're supposed to naturally know how to do.
But regulation isn't a personality trait.
It's a skill set.
And like any skill, it can be learned.
Your nervous system learned patterns over years of experience.
Stress patterns.
Protection patterns.
Avoidance patterns.
This week we're going to begin installing new ones.
Not through mindset.
Through the body.
Before we dive into the different tools that you can begin implementing right away let’s take a few moments to reflect on our starting point.
Journal Prompts
When I feel overwhelmed, what do I usually do?
What physical sensations show up when I’m stressed?
Which emotions do I avoid feeling?
